MASAT – The Romanian software that transforms the way eMag sellers analyze their products and profitability. A project founded by Andrei Victor Stan and Vlad Tamas.
Bucharest, 19.01.2026 – Online commerce in Romania is in a stage of accelerated maturation. If a few years ago success in eCommerce was often the result of intuition or expensive experiments, today things are different. Real performance is closely linked to the ability of entrepreneurs to make informed decisions, based on concrete data and relevant market analyses.
In this context, software solutions dedicated to selling on marketplaces are becoming an essential tool for sellers who want to remain competitive. These platforms provide visibility into real demand, the level of competition and the profitability of products, significantly reducing the risks associated with investments in inventory and marketing.
A relevant example is MASAT (Marketplace Seller Assistant), a platform developed in Romania, created specifically for sellers active on the eMAG Marketplace. MASAT responds to one of the biggest challenges in online commerce: transforming raw data into clear and easy-to-apply decisions.
The platform aims to simplify and clarify critical aspects of online sales, such as identifying the right products, estimating real market demand, and calculating profitability before allocating significant budgets for inventory or promotional campaigns. With quick access to relevant data, sellers can make more confident decisions and build sustainable long-term growth strategies.
The MASAT platform aims to simplify and clarify some of the most difficult aspects of online commerce: choosing the right products, estimating real market demand, and calculating profitability before making significant investments in inventory or marketing.
Current challenges for sellers on marketplaces
For many Romanian entrepreneurs, eMAG is the main gateway to online commerce. However, entering a competitive marketplace comes with a number of challenges. The lack of clear market analysis tools has led, in the past, to situations where merchants listed products without having a real picture of demand, competition, or profit margins.
In many cases, the product selection process was based on assumptions, informal recommendations, or superficially observed trends. The result was often a cycle of “trial and error,” with investments tied up in inventory that didn’t sell or products that generated volume but no profit.
From intuition to concrete data
MASAT comes to answer exactly these problems, through a suite of tools that transform market data into easy-to-interpret information. The platform is built to help sellers understand what is selling, how much it is selling for, and whether it is profitable, before making strategic decisions.
One of the platform’s central tools is XScan, a product research tool that analyzes a specific product niche and provides an estimate of monthly sales. The estimate is based on the last 12 months of history of the respective niche and takes into account several relevant factors, such as the positioning of products on the first page of search results, the number of reviews, the age of listings and the general evolution of demand.
Thus, even for new products, without their own sales history, XScan can indicate the monthly sales potential, relating it to the behavior of similar products on the market.
Calculating real profitability, including eMAG Fulfillment
Another essential element of the MASAT platform is the PxL Calculator, a tool dedicated to calculating the real profitability of a product. Unlike simplified estimates, this calculator includes all the relevant costs for an eMAG seller.
In addition to the standard fees charged by the marketplace, PxL Calculator takes into account:
- delivery costs,
- operational fees,
- logistics costs,
- as well as storage and operating costs related to the eMAG Fulfillment (FBE) service.
This approach provides a much more realistic picture of profit margins and allows entrepreneurs to avoid situations where a product seems profitable at first glance, but generates losses in the medium term.
Centralized dashboard for quick decisions
To complete the analysis process, MASAT also offers a centralized Dashboard, which aggregates data on sales, commissions and product performance. The Dashboard is designed to provide a clear and quick picture of the business, eliminating the need to analyze disparate data from multiple sources.
Through this approach, the platform helps reduce the time spent on manual analysis and allows sellers to focus on growth and optimization strategies.
Easier access to online commerce
According to MASAT developers, the main objective of the platform is to reduce barriers to entry in eCommerce. “When you have access to clear data about demand and profitability, risk decreases considerably, and decisions become better informed,” the company’s representatives say.
Currently, the platform is used by several hundred active sellers, and the degree of adoption indicates an increased interest in tools that bring transparency and predictability to online sales.
A trend towards professionalization of the market
The emergence of solutions such as the eMAG – MASAT seller platform reflects a broader trend towards professionalizing online commerce in Romania. While a few years ago success on marketplaces depended largely on luck or timing, today data and analytics play a central role.
Specialists in the field believe that the use of product research and profitability tools will become standard in the coming years, as competition increases and margins stabilize.
In this context, trading on eMAG becomes more accessible not only for big players, but also for entrepreneurs who build their business strategically, using solutions like MASAT, available locally.
